Similar idea was done in 2005 for taxi campaign, agency is Pristop, Slovenija. It's simpler and works much better IMO. Here's the link:

Or possibly the ad agencies are attempting to make a REALLY GOOD AD. If their job is to make an impact on people, and they won an award for doing so, I say job well done. Whether they were hired to do it, or if they just thought of it I don't know. They were trying to convey a point that could hypothetically save lives, and they got international attention and internet recognition.
About agencies being in it for money and awards. That should come with a good performance, such as this ad.

@ propaganda minister:

why they do it in english you ask?
isn't it obvious?
to win an award!
if you want to enter an international contest like cannes, you have to translate it into english.

and i doubt that this ad has ever been in a magazine...
they probably just publicized it once on a billboard, because they had to!

i hate this f****** hypocrisy! ad agencies pretend to be social and do this work for free... but all they want is to win awards and make more money...!!! they should at least be honest about it!

I sometimes question why groups and companies in Germany or other non English speaking countries would have complete English ads. Malteser Ambulance Service in Germany seems to be mostly supported by older German folks who don't speak English. But even younger folks who speak English decently well, why would they notice "scullfracture" when they scan through a magazine or drive by a billboard?
