Zebra Crossing is now one of the most popular element of guerrilla
marketing. This time, it has been used in order to draw attention to the
“Settimane dell’Architettura e del Design”, an international appointment
between designers, architets and passionates.
MTN Company, a brave and innovative integrated communication agency of
South Italy, has experimented zebra crossing advertising in Cava
de’Tirreni (Salerno) using 7 different decorations realized by the local
ceramists.

In a grocery store 4,820 canns of Campbell’s Soup were used to build an installation piece that spelled HUNGER. Signoge beside the piece encouraged shoppers to buy one and donate it to their local food bank. As shoppers bought cans from the display the word HUNGER slowly disappeared. This allowed people to see how their individual effort could help bring an end to the problem of hunger.

Solution: Female teams handed out USB sticks at erotica trade fairs. With the racy pictures and the text “CUM ON!â€, the sticks and the packaging got people’s hopes up as to what was inside. But instead of porn, the USB sticks were loaded with an autostart file which automatically opened a virus alarm when the stick was plugged in. This virus alarm was a drastic way of demonstrating how quickly people can be infected by HIV. When users clicked on “help†or “closeâ€, the stick’s submenu opened, including a link to the official website of Regenbogen e.V.: www.stopaids.de.
Results: The marketing operation took on a life of its own: the sticks were passed on to friends and the autostart file forwarded by email. This boosted the number of visitors to the website significantly.
