Berlitz language school: Yes we can

The last word is the Hebrew word for “Yes,” and is read “Ken.” This ad is a play on the phonetics of the 3 languages word for Yes and if you read them aloud the would read “Yes We Ken.”

Why isn’t the last word Hebrew for “can” Now it reads Yes, Oui, Yes. or Yes Wee Yes. Or maybe in Hebrew it sounds like can? If you have to explain ads, they aren’t right.

yes the phrase “KEN” in hebrew means “yes” (it’s not1 letter though, but a word made of two letters. both the letters together shapes like P = ??)
great ad.

another great *copy* from the adler/grey/copyhouse…
it was actually used at the obama campaign -
in shirts:
http://frgdr.com/blog/2008/10/06/hebrew-obama-merchandize-spotted-hampshire/
and in posters:
http://frgdr.com/blog/2008/07/22/obama-hebrew-poster-oui-ken/

apparently all you need to be an absolutely brilliant copywriter is to use google…

Dear ahoovi,

As the copywriter of this ad, I can assure you that I thought about the idea by myself. I didn’t use Google, as you did. Further more, the creative was to use the phrase in the right context.

The question is that- can we believe that two human minds might think about the same idea?

Yes we… you know what? its not important if you believe me or not.
Keep on the Google work.

Uri & Karin

i’m sorry. i mock that guy who used the same idea for that middle-of-nowhere campaign, i actually really like this work and the other two great minds who are responsible for this ad (was this published?)…
i already took place in many “great minds” discussions and decided that this never matters. you just happened to be irresponsible enough not to verify (for your own safety, just like you always do when you name brands, for example) that this wasn’t done before by THE ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES! just a pitty, that’s all.

cheers.
