But no, these freaky posters were produced right here in New York City, by Lowe, for the Light of Life Foundation for Thyroid Cancer (represented by the purple scarf ribbon). You know what? I like this exploiting-other-cancers strategy and these graphic layouts. Medical advertising is difficult, I know. Who ever thinks about their thyroid? This campaign gets its point across simply and memorably—if maybe a bit too goofily for such a serious issue. I have a minor complaint though. According to their website, thyroid cancer is the fastest-growing cancer in the United States. But, thyroid cancer occurs three times more often in women than in men. So, why do two of the three posters specifically target men then?
