McDonald’s: Open 24 hrs

As every restaurants have their closing hours. We feel that this is a great opportunity for McDonald’s to communicate the new 24 hours service. McDonald’s places a night image of its restaurant onto the pull-down shutter of various restaurants. Once the shutter is pulled down after the restaurant’s operating hours, passer bys will see an image of a McDonald’s in late hours. This is to deliver the message that while other restaurants are closed, one can enjoy good meal at McDonald’s 24 hours a day.

Doesn’t really make sense to promote a 24 hours service on restaurants which do NOT offer 24 hours service, does it?

That is exactly what I’m thinking. It isn’t really 24-hours, is it? Where can you order a burger once the doors are shut?

@ Markus and Amigo: McDonald’s IS open 24 hours a day – at least in their geographical area.

The signage is on OTHER restaurants that are closed for the night. The images are just confusing since the first one looks like an open McDonald’s.

I still think it doesn’t make sense. Imagine you’re a hungry customer walking by one of these (closed) restaurants …

I see what you are saying, then. I thought that the shut doors were from a McDonald’s, at which case the contradiction would be eminent.

As long as they put an address or some kind of pointers towards a real McDonald’s in these giant door stickers (so that you don’t only know that McD’s is open 24/7, but also WHERE it is), I think it does make sense.

I wonder how much they paid to the other restaurants for the right to use their shutters. I can’t imagine one restaurant promoting another one, even if it’s operating in different hours of the day.
Nice idea. Didn’t sweep me off my feet, but cute.
