no i don’t.. but if it’s a specific reference they they narrow the target base too much imo. . and that’s ever worse than just bad art direction or photography, taht’s a bad concept

no… I don’t think it’s a specific reference. I seen another ad with the same concept. I like it… sadistic!

I actually was just reading about microexpressions today, and I like to watch Lie To Me sometimes, but I still didn’t completely get it. I don’t understand what emotions the people were supposed to be conveying but weren’t, and theres nothing in particular that sticks out to me in this ad.

@ ben; photography ideas :

The person at the funeral should be sad, but the camera has detected a smile. Why would this person be happy at a funeral? Insert your own story here.

The poker player is doing his best at keeping a ‘poker face’ but the camera is detecting a smile, meaning he feels very confident in the hand he has been dealt.

The woman is saying goodbye to her partner, and should be sad at the thought of not having him around. However, the camera sees the smile. Why would she be happy that her partner is leaving? Insert your own story here.

If this were targeting the professional photographer who’s career is spent capturing elusive moments in life I’d say A+. However, if this “I can buy it at Walmart” finepix camera is targeting anyone who looks for the “auto,” “beach,” or “fat in-law” setting on their camera then F. It’s too subtle for the target, and doesn’t reflect what the function is designed to do…namely capture that split second smile from an otherwise uncoooperative and bratty kid.
