<p>Following up on the successful launch of Volkswagen BlueMotion Technologies via the innovative Fun Theory platform, Volkswagen and DDB created the Fun Theory Award, a competition which ultimately saw 699 amazing entries from more than 35 countries. The winner was the Speed Camera Lottery, created and submitted by San Francisco&#8217;s Kevin Richardson, a games producer for NickelodeonKids whose idea was based around rewarding those who obeyed the speed limit with the money raised through fining those lead foot drivers who exceed it. In October 2010, the idea became reality and was tested in Stockholm, in collaboration with NTF (The Swedish road transport authority). Speed Camera Lottery worked on many levels: the average speed was reduced by 22%. Media ranging from ABC to the BBC Worldwide Service covered the campaign, the competition and the winning idea. Even better Speed Camera Lottery helped Volkswagen continue to boost share and sales in Sweden. From January to June 2010 Volkswagen market share increased almost 4% to 12.9% while sales grew by 5.8% compared to an increase of 3.9% for the overall market compared to the first half of 2009. In the eco car segment alone, Volkswagen saw market share leap from about 8% to nearly 15% proving another theory at DDB: Creating ideas that people want to play with, participate in and pass along is good for business. </p>

To allude to their easy to assemble furniture, the brand launched an unprecedented action that converts the business card in a little chair. To do so is very simple: just detach the parts marked and put them together. The back of the card has the logo, while the seat takes the essential information such as address and phone number. Samsung should be differentiated with other local brands, and tends to make clear to consumers that no one but Samsung Smart TV can be called “real smart TV”.</p>
<p>Solution:<br />
Install a “Samsung Smart Box” at a site, many different kinds of gifts, such toys as characters of various applications (sports, music, movie, game, SNS etc.), endlessly pop out from the “Smart Box”, consumers can take it for free. Through the direct experience, let consumers know the unbelievable benefits that Smart TV applications can be downloaded for free! CBD(Central Business District) , where is the most white collar-intensive area in Beijing, is chosen as the interesting event site. Carry the activity out twice in rush hours (during the lunch break and the closing time). Promote product focus on the target consumers by interactive outdoor billboard combined with the spread of on-line viral video.</p>

The activity attracted huge crowds, white collars from nearby office buildings have take part in this interaction. Over 4,000 APP toys have been taken away. <p>No one gets closer to men than Gillette. And to prove this Gillette used nanotechnology to write their ad campaign on a man&#8217;s shaven beard.The ads were created using an electron microscope at The University of Nottingham. The smallest ad is written on the tip of a man&#8217;s hair and under 100 microns in size, it is currently being verified by the Guinness World Records as the world&#8217;s smallest ad. Blown up versions of these ads formed a print and poster campaign. The actual hairs were then placed in men&#8217;s bathrooms at airports where they would typically freshen up. With the hairs was a QR code through which people could access extra content showing what was on the hair.</p>

<p>Stimorol gum needed to distribute 40,000 packs of Orange Mint samples in a way that would leverage their brand, give them great exposure and create a memorable stunt. So to hand out the Orange Mint gum, we looked no further than orange-haired people. We created a group called ‘HeartGingers’, which we used to gather and recruit ginger-haired people for a ginger flash mob at the Synergy Music Festival. The event was a huge success, gaining great exposure for Stimorol on the web and radio. The gingers handed out all the gum. Roughly 6000 people were exposed to our Ginger army at Synergy. It generated R590 000 worth of PR on radio. And we showed everyone that gingers are people too.</p>

<p>Pedestrians walking by were invited to use their smartphone as a controller in a digital paddle game similar to the classic Pong. By visiting the website, people could choose which reward they wanted and then use their finger to swipe up and down on their touchscreen phone to move the paddle. If they lasted more than 30 seconds, they got a coupon for the reward they chose and could collect their free fast food treat from a McDonald&#8217;s restaurant.</p>

<p>Till 1990’s Russia was the most reading country in the world. Now people read less. Chain of bookstores “100 000 books” decided to remind people about the necessity of reading. One of the places where all people still read is toilet. When there’s no book there, people read anything that is at hand and mostly air fresheners. We created fresheners with fragments of world best-sellers printed on them. Books-fresheners appeared in WC in malls, business centers, offices, restaurants and household stores. Books-fresheners gained popularity. Next month after promotion the attendance of “100 000 books” grew by 23%. Now they are going to sell the fresheners in the chain’s outlets.</p>

<p>Ogilvy Argentina developed an innovative action for Budweiser associated to the growth of a new and very singular sport: “Poolball”, an idea that links two great passions of men, nightlife and soccer.  A giant pool table over 7&#215;3 meters long, with 15 redesigned soccer balls. Two teams of 2 friends standing on top of this huge table playing with the same pool rules. The difference is in “Poolball” you use your feet to shoot and not the club.  “Poolball” was presented in an exclusive event where over 600 people enjoyed and had fun with this new sport. There were tunnels, foot games and high precision shots together with good music, mirror balls, women and the most sold beer in the world, Budweiser. Fox Sports and ESPN broadcasted live. Poolball is now touring around bars and pubs of Buenos Aires.</p>

<p>Neutrogena released an interactive booklet in which people can share their own experience in how to eliminate expression lines. Created by DDB Brasil, the ad has actual lines, as if they were wrinkles on women faces. To eliminate them, the reader must pull the product’s package. The action refers to the use of night time facial moisturizer Neutrogena Ultra-light, which prevents and softens the appearance of expression lines.</p>

Their common behavior was their enthusiasm in laughing at the face of horror. So we decided to make fun of horror. We invited everyone to smile with horror. The Phantom of D&#038;R was far more popular in the virtual world than the spiritual world. He has been invited to movie signings, received love letters and been asked for advice. So we surprised his fans wıth his presence in The Kanyon Store during the Shopping Festival. 50% discount in Horror Days have become an unforgettable journey. Also an unparalleled 559% increase in sales (quantity) and 291% increase in revenue. Happy Horror Days made us and our client smile.</p>

<p>Profi Ernst ambient stunt “Blurred House” &#8211; in Germany the debates about StreetView were and still are fierce. Many people had their houses blurred – in a fight for privacy and against invasion by a global giant. Profi Ernst, a local DIY store, used this topic cleverly for a stunt. A real house was blurred – by fixing a giant true size blurred image of the facade on the facade. The cheeky message: Don’t be ashamed of your house – come to Profi Ernst. <p>In March, airline company Norwegian opened 7 new low fare flight routes to Mediterranean destinations, directly from Landvetter airport in Gothenburg. A campaign in print, online and outdoor media launched the destinations with focus on the low price &#8211; now we wanted to do something that conveyed the feeling from these places.</p>
<p>The solution was display the sunny destinations &#8211; in scale 1:87. On more than 30 locations around the center of Gothenburg, small groups of suntanned vacationers now enjoy the Mediterranean sun and warm water.</p>
