Superette: Short shorts at Superette

With both men and women now wearing their shorts at breathtaking heights, fashion chain Superette was presented with a unique opportunity to draw attention to their sale on short shorts. DDB Auckland ads were placed on the virgin thighs that are exposed in this latest trend, by putting indented plates across the inner city and fashion district bus stops, mall seats and park benches, so that when people sat down the message was imprinted on their thighs. This meant that as well as having branded seats, a veritable army of free media was created for Superette, with thousands of imprints being created and lasting up to an hour. Plus, by the nature of where the ads were placed, only the hippest young cats were seen advocating the brand.

Sleep all day, party all night. This campaign features youth that live like creatures of the night and being wild is in their blood. They don’t just enjoy the night, they rule it! Kraft: The Secrets of Coffee Mailing

Coffee reveals coffee secrets The coffee calendar was a VIP mailing of the Kraft Foods Europe Coffee Category for internal and external stakeholders. The main goal was to surprise category experts and involve them. A strange Mailing: a white box with a seemingly blank calendar. The content becomes visible only after coffee powder is spread
over the pages and sticks to the glue-print. Visuals and copy appear – coffee secrets: strange facts, usages and effects. A random act of kindness well received and sure
to hang in offices for a year.

Smart Fortwo Coupe: Cement Truck

To visually demonstrate the smart’s smallest turning radius, city cement trucks will be transformed into naturally rotating mobile billboards with a smart fortwo coupe on their spinning cement drums. To minimize the environmental footprint, the branded trucks will drive along already established routes (construction sites) which will pass through some of the city’s highly-trafficked areas. The initiative begins today and will continue for the next four weeks.

For updates on the trucks’ whereabouts, visit: www.facebook.com/smartcanada

And on Facebook, the first five people to take a photo of the cement truck and post it to smart Canada’s page http://www.facebook.com/#!/smartCanada will win 2 tickets to the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto.

Lee: Never wasted

With the relevance of eco-friendly initiatives increasing every day, Lee wanted an innovative solution that would display their affiliation towards the same and also spread the message amongst their customers. To drive the message home in a fun and effective way, we went for something a bit more inventive than just a bag made of recycled paper. The ‘Never Wasted’ shopping bag that can be reused in one way or another. Some for fun, some for function, but nothing ever goes into the trash. Not only did this make the idea long-lasting and interactive but also conveyed the message in a fascinating manner. A surge in interest from patrons forced us to produce 100 times more bags than the initial production of 3,000 bags.

Diesel: Kneej

Task at hand was to come up with an in-store promotion idea to run along the ‘Sex sells Unfortunately we sell jeans’ campaign to help increase sales. So we created the Knee.J, a spoof sex toy of sorts to be given away to all customers that ran a bill above $ 150. One day from running posters and e-mailers, the stores saw an instant increase in walk-ins. Customers were all eager to get their hands on the Knee.J. What was meant to be a one-store activity got enough publicity to manufacture more pieces and take them across all stores. The sales picked up by 40% and customers were spotted kneeling for more.

Diesel: Tears of Joy

Inspired from the dubious factoid that India has the largest number of Diesel fakes in the world, Diesel’s launch party in India was called the ‘Fake Party’. To invite the celebrities to this party we sent them ‘Tears of Joy’ — 100% Natural Crocodile Tears that was actually a bottle of glycerine. This unpretentious dig on the ever-socialising celebrity lifestyle established an instant connection with the celebrities. Some of them blogged about it, few asked for an extra piece to play a prank on their friends, and almost all of them turned out at the party to revel in its mad fun — this time, for real.
